It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Summer Creek Bulldogs had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They breezed by Pasadena Memorial on the road to the tune of 48-0. Considering Summer Creek has won seven contests by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Summer Creek was led to victory by Lloyd Avant and Blake Thomas. Avant rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while Thomas threw for 134 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Avant's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards.
The victory (which was Summer Creek's fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points per game. As for Pasadena Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
Summer Creek is on the road again on November 17th and play against Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Clear Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Summer Creek is ranked seventh). Pasadena Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
