For the first time this season, Glacier Peak will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Lake Stevens Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Glacier Peak barely beat Edmonds-Woodway the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Glacier Peak was the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over Edmonds-Woodway on Monday. The Grizzlies haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Emma Hirshorn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 16 Ks. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Alexis Garcia was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Morgan Udy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Glacier Peak was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lake Stevens had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bearcats 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted against the Bearcats since April 25, 2018.
Lake Stevens also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Mara Sivley gave up five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. Sivley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emerson Cummins, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Reese Breckenridge was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
Glacier Peak's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Lake Stevens, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Glacier Peak has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lake Stevens struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Glacier Peak skirted past Lake Stevens 4-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Does Glacier Peak have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Stevens turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
