Summit has gone 8-2 against Battle Mountain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Husky at 3:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Summit is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Conifer just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. Neither they nor the Lobos could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 14-14 draw.
Meanwhile, Battle Mountain narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Gunnison 11-10.
Jack Reed was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kia Tipton, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Tipton is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Tony Damici, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Battle Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Battle Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 3-1-1. With that tie, Summit's record moves to 4-3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Summit has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Battle Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Summit's way against Battle Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Summit made off with a 13-1 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Husky have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
