The Hawthorne Valley Wildcats had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came out on top against Loudonville Christian by a score of 54-47. This was payback for Hawthorne Valley, who suffered a 62-50 loss the last time these two teams met.
Hawthorne Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Oliver Towe led the charge by scoring 22 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Towe has scored at least a third of Hawthorne Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Vom Stein, who scored 15 points.
Hawthorne Valley pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Loudonville Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hawthorne Valley will square off against the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Loudonville Christian will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
