The Oasis Sharks will head out to challenge the Cypress Lake Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Oasis turned things around against Babcock on Monday. They put the hurt on the Trailblazers with a sharp 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Sharks, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Cypress Lake made sure to put some runs up on the board against Babcock on Friday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Trailblazers. Considering the Panthers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Fernando Carrasquel made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cypress Lake is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise. Carrasquel was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Matt Miller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Cypress Lake: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Galluzzo Nick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Cypress Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Babcock only posted an OBP of .375.
Cypress Lake's record is now 5-9. As for Oasis, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Oasis couldn't quite get it done against Cypress Lake when the teams last played back in February of 2022 as they fell 10-6. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
