Poinciana was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in 5A District 10. The Eagles vanquished Central 22-8 earlier in the week.
Tenoroc lost to Haines City 62-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Phinaud Jean-Pierre ran for 26 yards in the loss.
Poinciana's dynamic duo of Jonathan Lindstrom and Joshua Lopez proved to be unstoppable against the Bears, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lindstrom threw for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns and Lopez had 117 yards receiving. Maruice Anglin helped Poinciana's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 36 yards.
Jeff Mathis' team's dynamic duo of Lindstrom and Lopez proved tough for Central to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Jean-Pierre was the best running back in the league this week.
Lopez was the best receiver in the league this week as the Eagles defeated Michael Einsphar's team.
He went 8-18 with 0 interceptions.
Lindstrom put up the best numbers through the air as Poinciana bested the Bears.
Leading 5A District 10 in both passing and receiving yards, the Eagles' Lindstrom and Lopez have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Lindstrom has thrown for 735 yards this season, while Lopez has 12 catches for 272 yards. Justin Henderson from Lake Wales leads the league in rushing with 334 yards.
The Highlanders' offense has scored 70 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Mulberry has allowed only 57 on the year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Lake Wales takes on the Panthers. Rod Shafer's team is in second place, while Mulberry is in third place.
The longest pass in the league this week was acheived by Poinciana's Lindstrom. The Eagles topped Central when he connected with Lopez on a 70-yard throw and catch.
