Softball Recap: Gosnell Has No Trouble Against Westside

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Gosnell nor Westside made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Pirates put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 7-0 win. Considering the Pirates have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Avery McHan, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Westside off the board. McHan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sarah Thompson was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Aubrey Hill was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Gosnell has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Westside, they moved to 19-7 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Gosnell nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
