Gracie Watley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Maylee Gabey was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Addison Petersen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Fort White had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They blew past Chiefland 11-1.
Kadence Compton and Hannah LeBleu were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Compton didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, LeBleu tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At bat, Compton scored a run while going 2-for-4, while LeBleu went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Adisynne O'Quinn, who scored three runs while going 1-for-4.
Fort White hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chiefland struck out 12 times.
Suwannee's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fort White, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
