Carencro hasn't had much luck against Acadiana recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bears will square off against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. Carencro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Acadiana likes a good challenge.
Carencro is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Southside on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bears were outmatched by the Sharks and fell 70-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bears have suffered since November 1, 2024.
Carencro's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chris Baham, who rushed for 84 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries, and Carson Gurzi, who threw for 164 yards and two TDs.
Meanwhile, Acadiana came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 49-21 win over the Broncos. With the Rams ahead 28-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Acadiana's win came from a few key players Carencro will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Troy Kennerson, who rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. Collin Dibetta got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Acadiana was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 308 rushing yards. They are 5-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Acadiana didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Dibetta.
Acadiana's record is now 6-3. As for Carencro, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.
Carencro was taken down by Acadiana 51-7 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
