Florence is a perfect 10-0 against Coolidge since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Florence will be playing at home against Coolidge at 6:00 p.m. Florence's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Coolidge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Florence's victory against Globe wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Florence skirted past Globe 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Gophers have posted since April 15, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Cameron Lorefice, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Stenson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Lorefice wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Florence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coolidge). They were the clear victors by a 19-7 margin over Ray on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bears as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Adam Carreon was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Andrew Ashcraft, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Florence's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-3. As for Coolidge, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Florence has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Coolidge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Florence was able to grind out a solid win over Coolidge when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. Will Florence repeat their success, or does Coolidge has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
