After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Elizabeth, Union City was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Fort Lee Bridgemen as they made off with a 10-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Soaring Eagles, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Zaylee Vargas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Zo? Mays was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Abigail Ledesma, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Union City is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-13 record this season.
