The Greenon Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Preble Shawnee Arrows at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Greenon knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Preble Shawnee likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Greenon beat Northeastern 14-11.
Greenon got a great performance from Ollie Derr as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Derr has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Grayson Meizler was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Fields, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Greenon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Preble Shawnee came up short against Franklin Monroe on Tuesday, falling 11-4.
Noah Nesbitt was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Greenon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Preble Shawnee, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Greenon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Preble Shawnee struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
