Softball Recap: Dallas Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Dallas waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They were the clear victors by a 19-6 margin over the Wyoming Valley West Spartans. The Mountaineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

NINA BARROUK made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dallas got a massive performance out of CAROLYN COMITZ, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave COMITZ a new career-high. Another player making a difference was EMMA FOSTOCK, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Dallas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Dallas' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Wyoming Valley West, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Coincidentally, Dallas and Wyoming Valley West will both be playing Tunkhannock the next time they take the field. The Mountaineers will head out to face the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Spartans will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
