McDermitt has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. The McDermitt Bulldogs and the Jackpot Jaguars will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. McDermitt will be strutting in after a victory while Jackpot will be coming in after a defeat.
In what's become a running theme this season, McDermitt gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lund 59-19 at home. Given McDermitt's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Lund is ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McDermitt can attribute much of their success to Kiarra Crutcher, who scored 13 points, and Alexis Scott, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scott has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reign Crutcher, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Jackpot, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were beaten by Owyhee 53-19 on Saturday. Jackpot was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-5.
McDermitt pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Jackpot, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for McDermitt against Jackpot when the teams last played on January 5th as the team secured a 61-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for McDermitt since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
