The biggest upset of the week belonged to Ysleta, who took down 1001st ranked Ysleta, 27-19. Charlie Ortega ran for 90 yards in the win.
Parkland's ANTHONY DUDLEY recorded the longest rushing play in 4A Region I District 2 this season in his game against Canutillo last week. DUDLEY's team fell to the Eagles as he sprinted for 78 yards on the play and finished with 106 in all.
Emilio Noriega put up the best numbers through the air as Hanks bested Eastlake. He finished with 15 completions for 169 yards and two touchdowns. Noriega's favorite target this week was Marco Ceniceros, who caught five passes for 69 yards.
Jose Alvarez was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 182 yards on 25 carries as Canutillo lost to San Elizario. Andrew Lopez also contributed to the rushing game with 87 yards on the ground.
Ramirez was the best wideout in the league this week as Ysleta lost to the Eagles. Ramirez racked up seven receptions for 70 yards. Benjamin Juardo helped Ysleta's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.
RICARDO PORRAS made the biggest impact on defense this week as Parkland fell to Scott Brooks's team. The senior recorded one fumble.
Horizon's Jesus Flores and Hilario Soto have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region I District 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Flores has thrown for 819 yards this season, while Soto, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 16 catches for 387 yards. San Elizario's Danny Calderon leads the league in rushing yards with 534.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Del Valle takes on Sal Aguirre's team. The Conquistadores are currently in third, while the Eagles are in fifth.
San Elizario was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to fifth in the league. The Eagles beat Rubin Torres's team 27-19 earlier in the week.
