The Bob Hope Eagles had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They secured a 46-41 W over Beta Academy.
Bob Hope's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alijah Airiavbere, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Airiavbere has scored at least a third of Bob Hope's points. Despite the defeat, Beta Academy saw an underclassman step up: Hosea Aguilar scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aguilar has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Balian Aguilar, who scored eight points.
Bob Hope pushed their record up to 18-7 with that win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points per game. As for Beta Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Bob Hope will be playing at home against Cristo Rey Jesuit at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cristo Rey Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday. As for Beta Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Harmony School of Innovation at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
