The Milby Buffs can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past Sharpstown 35-13. The victory was just what Milby needed coming off of a 68-21 defeat in their prior game.
Milby found their leader in underclassman Ke'lia Smith, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Milby's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nayeli Medina, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Milby's win bumped their record up to 8-20. As for Sharpstown, they dropped their record down to 0-14 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Milby will face off against the Mustangs at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Austin and the Buffs are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Sharpstown, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Rams at 8:30 p.m.
