This season hasn't been kind to the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They were outmatched by West Branch at home and fell 76-46. While losing is never fun, Moshannon Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 709th, while West Branch is ranked 93rd).
Owen Koleno was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds for West Branch. That makes it four consecutive games in which Koleno has scored at least 25% of West Branch's points. Another player making a difference was Joel Evans, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Moshannon Valley bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for West Branch, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moshannon Valley will face off against Philipsburg-Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Branch, they will head out on the road to face off against Ferndale at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
