Xavier College Prep walked away with a 55-47 victory over the Wolves. Given Xavier College Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Wolves are ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Xavier College Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sarah Miller, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Dominique Nesland was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Chandler lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Markayla Shirley, who scored nine points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Averi Mehlberg, who scored 11 points.
Xavier College Prep's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Chandler, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12.
Xavier College Prep will head out on the road to take on the Pumas at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chandler, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Basha is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.
