Given Vista PEAK Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Bear Creek is ranked 130th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vista PEAK Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alante Monroe-elazier, who scored 15 points. Javon Lowman was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emilek Jallow, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matthew Hegerle, who scored six points.
Vista PEAK Prep's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0. As for Bear Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Vista PEAK Prep will head out on the road to face off against D'Evelyn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully D'Evelyn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday. As for Bear Creek, they will square off against Lewis-Palmer at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Allowing an average of 71.5 points per game, Lewis-Palmer has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this contest.
