Mishicot has gone a perfect 10-0 against St. Mary Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Indians will take on the Zephyrs at 4:30 p.m. Mishicot is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Mishicot was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Reedsville on Monday. The Indians' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 10-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their one-run performance the game before.
Kaelin Adair was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Karsyn Krause, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mishicot was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reedsville only posted a batting average of .067.
Meanwhile, St. Mary Catholic came into Monday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Manitowoc Lutheran by a score of 8-4 on Monday.
Gabrielle Guerrero was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Guerrero was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, St. Mary Catholic got a big performance out of Emily Vogel, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Paxtyn Trinkner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Mishicot's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for St. Mary Catholic, their record now sits at 4-13.
St. Mary Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mishicot has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for St. Mary Catholic, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Mishicot's sizable advantage in that area, the Zephyrs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mishicot took their victory against St. Mary Catholic in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
