The Milford Bearcats will head out to face off against the Peotone Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Milford's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Peotone's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Milford barely beat Momence the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bearcats blew past the Momence Athletics 10-0 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won three matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Ellie Schwartz, who gave up just four hits to keep Momence off the board. Schwartz has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Addison Lucht was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillie Harris, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Peotone came up short against Manteno on Tuesday and fell 6-1. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Peotone saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton Schnelle, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was Schnelle's first of the season.
Milford's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Peotone, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Everything went Milford's way against Peotone in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Milford made off with a 14-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
