The Delta Saints missed an extra point against the Valley Christian Lions on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Delta was just a hair shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Valley Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (41), Delta still had to take the loss.
Delta's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gavin McAllister, who threw for 196 yards and five touchdowns. Max Danila was another key contributor, picking up 132 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Thomas Rominger had a dynamite game for Valley Christian, throwing for 423 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per attempt, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Rominger is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Clary, who picked up 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Delta's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Delta will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Woodland Christian at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Woodland Christian will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. Valley Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Stone Ridge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th.
