The Leon Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Lincoln Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Leon's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Lincoln's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Leon fell victim to Maclay and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.81 runs allowed.
Leon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evans Franco, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln). They put the hurt on St. Augustine with a sharp 15-1 victory on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jayson Parker made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Cannady, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Baisden, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Lincoln pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Leon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.
Leon might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Lincoln in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Leon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
