The Sonora Broncos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by Ozona on the road and fell 66-15. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sonora in their matchups with Ozona: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Sonora still got an impressive performance from Jayla Williams, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and four steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played.
Sonora has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season. As for Ozona, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-4.
Sonora will head out on the road to square off against Reagan County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Reagan County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Ozona, they will be playing at home against Water Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Water Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 892nd, while Ozona is ranked 241st).
