Sneads had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 33-28 victory over the Cottondale Hornets. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered a 24-21 loss the last time these two teams met.

Tyran Thomas threw for 30 yards and one TD. Jamarhi Scott was his top target, picking up 30 receiving yards and one score.

Cottondale's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Heinemann, who threw for 171 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. Alex Bellamy was Heinemann's top target, picking up 56 receiving yards and two TDs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sneads will challenge Seminole County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cottondale, they will take on FAMU DRS at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
