Football Recap: Caleb Holmes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Jones over South Jones

West Jones scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the South Jones Braves by a score of 38-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered against the Braves since September 30, 2016.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caleb Holmes, who rushed for 212 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Holmes really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Chandler Watson, who picked up 130 receiving yards and three scores.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Jones fell to 2-1-1. As for South Jones, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Jones will challenge North Pike at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Jones, they will square off against Quitman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
