The Palisades Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Palmerton Blue Bombers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Palisades earned a 9-5 win over Lehighton.
Mason Schultz made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Anderson Hsu and Jack Trickel did most of the damage at the plate: Hsu went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Trickel went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those four hits gave Trickel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shane Schuback, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
Palisades hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lehighton struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Palmerton was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Wilson Area by a score of 9-5.
The team relied heavily on Luke Matkso, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Brady Reph was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Palmerton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Palisades, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Palisades skirted past Palmerton 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
