The Juab Wasps will head out on the road to square off against the Canyon View Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Juab sitting on three straight victories and Canyon View on 17.
Juab gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Manti by a score of 8-5.
Corbin Buchanan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Park, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Connor Cowan was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Canyon View faced off against North Sanpete on Friday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Hawks. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Zach Maine and Jarron Bradshaw did most of the damage at the plate: Maine went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Bradshaw went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Maine a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Slack, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Canyon View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 14 consecutive contests.
Juab's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Canyon View, their record is now 20-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Juab hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Canyon View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Juab's way against Canyon View when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Juab made off with a 13-4 win. Will the Wasps repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
