The St. Maries Lumberjacks were the 40-38 winner over the Logos Knights when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. St. Maries opened the new year with a less-than-successful 40-33 defeat to Logos. St. Maries' loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
St. Maries lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bailee Martin, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martin has scored all season. Raevyn Yearout was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
St. Maries' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Logos, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4.
St. Maries will head out on the road to face off against Kellogg at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Kellogg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Thursday. As for Logos, they will be playing at home against Genesee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
