Rochester hasn't had much luck against Leechburg recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. Rochester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Rochester beat St. Joseph 8-3. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.
Jett Williams made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Williams was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Braeden Siget was incredible, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Cameron Janectic, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Leechburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 10-6 to Kiski School. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Blue Devils, who until this game were averaging 3.33 runs allowed.
Mason Bertino made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Jake Cummings was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Leechburg's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Rochester, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rochester has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Leechburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Rochester suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Leechburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
