It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Steele Knights had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They breezed by Brandeis at home to the tune of 42-14. The win was familiar territory for Steele who now have nine in a row.
Steele's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jonathan Hatton jr., who rushed for 65 yards and three touchdowns. Hatton jr. has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Jalen Cooper was another key contributor, picking up 142 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Steele's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.92 points. As for Brandeis, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Steele will take on McNeil at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. McNeil will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Steele is ranked 29th). Brandeis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
