The New Bern Bears will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Havelock Rams at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully New Bern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
After a string of three wins, New Bern's good fortune finally ran out. They fell 47-36 to South Central. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New Bern has scored all season.
Despite the loss, New Bern got a solid performance out of Brewer Simmons, who scored ten points. Jussan Wiggins was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Even though Havelock has not done well against D.H. Conley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Havelock walked away with a 59-47 victory over D.H. Conley.
New Bern's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Havelock, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
New Bern didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Havelock when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 59-54 win. Does New Bern have another victory up their sleeve, or will Havelock turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
