Elgin/Pope John dropped down to 4-2 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They were outmatched by the St. Mary's Cardinals and fell 63-6. The Wolfpack were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the three matchups prior), but the Cardinals' defense proved too tough.
As for St. Mary's, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 54.5 points this season.
It was another big night for Gage Hedstrom, who rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 181 yards and four TDs.
