Homewood-Flossmoor (Flossmoor, Ill.) bested Joliet West (Joliet, Ill.) 49-8 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Johnson to
Vashon Nutt in the first quarter, the Vikings led 49-0 at the half.
Homewood-Flossmoor put up 35 points in the first quarter en route to the win. HF scored on a touchdown pass by Johnson to Nutt, a touchdown run by
Taje Smith, a Smith touchdown run, a Johnson touchdown pass to Ross and a touchdown pass by
Patrick Sheehan to Ross in the quarter.
Smith was the top performer for the Flossmoor school. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
Joliet West's lone touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.
The Vikings had given up an average of 17.6 points prior to the contest.
Homewood-Flossmoor also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 56-19.
The loss comes after Joliet West defeated Lockport 28-7 last week. With the win HF extended its winning streak to three games.
Joliet West (3-5) goes up against Lincoln-Way East in a Southwest Suburban - Blue game matchup next week, while Homewood-Flossmoor (7-2) locks horns with Sandburg also in a Southwest Suburban - Blue game.
