Greater Atlanta Christian is 0-1 against Kell since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans will be staying on the road to face off against the Kell Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. on October 20th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Greater Atlanta Christian was fully in charge, breezing past North Springs 55-14 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 55-6.
Greater Atlanta Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gianlucca "gl" Tiberia out in front who rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Tiberia is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Xavier Daisy also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Kell had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They put the hurt on Cambridge with a sharp 47-21 win.
Kell found their leader in underclassman Tyriq Green, who rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also picked up 85 receiving yards. Green was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Quinterrius Gipson was another major influence, as he rushed for 46 yards and ran in a TD.
Their wins bumped Greater Atlanta Christian to 7-0 and Kell to 6-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Greater Atlanta Christian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Kell struggles in that department as they've been even better at 224.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Greater Atlanta Christian came up short against Kell in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 28-19. Can Greater Atlanta Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
