The Caverna Colonels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 48-34 to Northeast.
Northeast was led to victory by Eliza Brimley and Qimara Summers. Brimley scored ten points along with six assists and six rebounds, while Summers scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Summers has scored at least 25% of Northeast's points. Kayla Prince was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Caverna bumped their record down to 2-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.7 points per game. As for Northeast, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caverna will face off against John Hardin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northeast is on the road again on Friday and play against Rossview at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
