There's no place like home for the Nandua Warriors, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They managed a 70-65 win over Northampton on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Nandua had a senior duo take command as Ny'Zir Dix scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and JaQuan Thomas dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Makai Dorn, who scored eight points.
When it comes to explaining why Northampton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ronyell Coston. Despite the final result, he scored 27 points along with six rebounds. Coston hasn't dropped below 20 points for six straight games. Quayshawn Washington was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven steals.
Nandua now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Northampton, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.
Nandua will head out on the road to take on Chincoteague at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nandua is facing Chincoteague at the right time seeing as Chincoteague is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Northampton, they will be playing at home against Norfolk Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Northampton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 74.3 points per game this season.
