Jack Cunningham was his usual excellent self, picking up 190 receiving yards and three touchdowns. His receiving production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 111 receiving yards. Tristan Savage handled things on the ground, rushing for 80 yards and a rushing touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Ventura's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They received some extra help from Nathan Swaim, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Royal played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Buena 64-24. The Highlanders' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Ventura will have to contain Landen Murray as he made an impact in Royal's last game. He rushed for 113 yards on only 13 carries.
