Make it five blowout wins for the Lincoln Southeast Knights this season. They claimed a resounding 78-50 win over Lincoln High at home. Given Lincoln Southeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Lincoln High is ranked 198th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Taye Moore, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jake Hilkemann, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Several Links players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brady Nick, who scored 12 points. Anania Ruba was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Lincoln High struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lincoln Southeast pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Lincoln Southeast is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Lincoln High, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Lincoln Southeast will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Lincoln Southeast likes a good challenge. As for Lincoln High, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Fremont at 5:15 p.m. Fremont will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
