The Titusville Rockets are taking a road trip to take on the Hickory Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Titusville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Titusville took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sharon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rockets had just enough and edged out the Tigers 8-7 on Tuesday. While the Rockets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Blake Schmidt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Schmidt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

| 05/21/24 vs Oil City | 2 |

Schmidt wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kameron Mong, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave Mong a new career-high. Another was Brody Sellen, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Titusville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Hickory won against Sharpsville on Saturday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Grove City. With that win, the Hornets brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Matthew Myers tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Hickory let Sean Cummings and Jack White run wild. Cummings scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while White scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those stolen bases were White's first of the season.
Titusville pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hickory, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.
Hickory's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Titusville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .414. It's a different story for Hickory, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Titusville's hitters?
Titusville took their win against Hickory when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
