The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. Patrick, who took down 143rd ranked St. Patrick, 30-15. Delance Turner ran for 132 yards in the win.
Vonnie Harrell of West Marion ran for the longest rushing play in 3A Region 8 this season against Pass Christian last week. Harrell scampered for 57 yards on the play and finished with 106 on the day as his team defeated the Pirates.
Sumrall's dynamic duo of Will Simon and Devontae Watts proved tough for Collins to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Simon threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns and Watts had 126 yards receiving. Austin Watts helped Sumrall's passing attack out by catching five balls for 89 yards.
The Bobcats' Simon and Watts have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Simon has thrown for 1790 yards this season, while Watts, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 41 catches for 659 yards. West Marion's Harrell leads the league in rushing yards with 614.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Fighting Irish take on Sumrall. As it stands, St. Patrick is in third, while Shannon White's team is in second.
Brad Duncan's team extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region 8 this week by beating Pass Christian, 40-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Trojans.
