The Pioneer Valley Panthers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cabrillo. Pioneer Valley has struggled against Cabrillo recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Thomas Zepeda, who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zepeda has scored all season. Another player making a difference was David Lopez, who scored 11 points.
Pioneer Valley's loss dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Cabrillo, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pioneer Valley will face off against Santa Maria at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Santa Maria's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 17 matchups. As for Cabrillo, they will head out on the road to face off against Orcutt Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cabrillo is facing Orcutt Academy at the right time seeing as Orcutt Academy is stuck on a 11-game losing streak.
