Westville is 10-0 against Chrisman since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Westville Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Chrisman Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Westville has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 27.
Westville suffered their biggest loss since November 18, 2023 on Wednesday. They were dealt a 59-18 defeat at the hands of Watseka. While losing is never fun, Westville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 664th, while Watseka is ranked 154th).
Despite the loss, Westville had strong showings from Madison Duke, who scored four points, and Aubrie Jenkins, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Chrisman came up short against Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Wednesday and fell 43-32. That's two games in a row now that Chrisman has lost by exactly 11 points.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Adaleyn Miller, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Taylor Jones was another key contributor, scoring three points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Westville dropped their record down to 3-19 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.6 points per game. As for Chrisman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-14.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Westville have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Chrisman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Westville took their victory against Chrisman in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 43-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
