Mountain Home and Burley are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Tigers will welcome the Bobcats at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Burley will be up against a hot Mountain Home squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Tigers' way against Wood River on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-6 win. The game marked the Tigers' most dominant victory of the season.
Tre Morse was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Erik Russell, who went 1-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double.
Mountain Home always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Burley faced Marsh Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Eagles. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Braxton Warr and Ike Redder made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Warr pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Redder pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Warr has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Warr scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Redder scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Burley got a massive performance out of Jake Redder, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Redder has posted since back in March. Mack Haynes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Mountain Home pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Burley, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain Home hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Burley struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain Home skirted past Burley 10-8 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
