After both having extra time off, the Ballard Beavers and the Garfield Bulldogs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ballard comes in on five and Garfield on six.
Ballard is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Nathan Hale 29-3 last Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the Beavers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Grace Shiotani and Alexa Hunt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Shiotani tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hunt pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Shiotani went 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Hunt got on base in three of her six plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Hunt a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Annika Jahn, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Morris, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Ballard hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Garfield got the win against West Seattle last Tuesday by a conclusive 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine matches by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Sammy Breckenridge looked comfortable as she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk).
On the hitting side, Ella Howard was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Washington, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Garfield's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Ballard, their record is now 11-2.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ballard has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Garfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .546. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ballard skirted past Garfield 6-5 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beavers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
