For the first time this season, Villa Grove will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Blue Ridge Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Villa Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Villa Grove saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost 10-4 to Midwest Central.
Areigha Hauversburk made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double. Kenna Koeberlein was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Blue Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They skirted past Martinsville 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since May 7, 2025.
Olivia Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Addison Roos was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlee Fenton, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Blue Ridge's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Villa Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Everything went Villa Grove's way against Blue Ridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Villa Grove made off with a 10-2 victory. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
