The Lumpkin County Indians put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They secured a 61-55 W over White County. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
Lumpkin County was led to victory by Cal Faulkner and Mason Sullens. Faulkner rushed for 139 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, while Sullens rushed for 268 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Sullens is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.
White County's loss came despite strong showings from Tripp Nix and Ryan Fowler. Nix threw for 166 yards and five touchdowns, while Fowler rushed for 247 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Fowler's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Gaines Clark was another key contributor, picking up 33 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Lumpkin County's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. As for White County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Lumpkin County will head out on the road to face off against Dawson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dawson County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Lumpkin County is ranked 77th). As for White County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pickens at 7:30 p.m.
