The Spur Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Knox City Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Spur's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They blew past Northside 52-6 at home. The victory was just what Spur needed coming off of a 53-0 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Knox City put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Valley with points to spare, taking the game 60-46. Given Knox City's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked first, while Valley is ranked 38th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Knox City can attribute much of their success to Cameron Hernandez, who rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and Tristin Baxter, who rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Devin Guillory was in the mix too, providing Knox City with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Spur to 2-7 and Knox City to 9-0.
Spur might still be hurting after the 32-8 defeat they got from Knox City when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Spur avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
