Baseball Recap: Kirby Wins Going Away Against Melrose

Kirby won the last time they faced Melrose and things went their way on Saturday too. The Cougars blew past the Golden Wildcats 12-5. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kirby got a massive performance out of Elijah Cody, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. The Cougars are 6-1 when Cody posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brajan Chavarria, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Kirby's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9. As for Melrose, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Kirby nor Melrose have any future games scheduled.
